Grifols distributes Phaseal® in Spain and Portugal after agreement with Carmel Pharma.

Grifols International, S.A., a company belonging to Probitas Pharma, a holding company specialized in the health-pharmaceutical sector, has arrived at an agreement with Carmel Pharma to market Phaseal®, a protection system that minimizes the risks associated with handling cytostatics and toxic medications.

Phaseal®: a step forward in occupational safety
Studies carried out by Carmel Pharma in European and North American hospitals show that technicians, pharmacists and nurses may run the risk of contamination in preparing, administering and disposing of cytostatics. Efforts to minimize this risk by isolating the worker are not enough, as contaminants have been found to exist on work surfaces, in the air and in worker's urine even when the medication is handled using a protective biological safety cabinet and air filters. Studies show the effectiveness of Phaseal® – a completely closed system for all stages from preparation to administration – in eliminating the possibility of the worker coming into contact with cytostatics and, consequently, possible contamination.
