Bioservo introduces the latest version of its popular bionic glove for health care. Carbonhand® is a grip enhancing tool that has been developed using Bioservo's patented SEM ™ technology. It is an example of next-generation medical devices that combine the best of two worlds: medical research and groundbreaking mechatronics.
Bioservo launches an improved version of its bionic glove for healthcare. It is called Carbonhand and comes with a free app. Like its predecessor SEM Glove™, Carbonhand is a grip enhancing medical device that includes Bioservo's patented SEM ™ technology. It is designed for people with impaired hand function. Carbonhand is part of the next generation medical devices that combine the best of two worlds: medical research and groundbreaking mechatronics. It is designed as an easy-to-use glove that works intuitively. It helps the user to add more strength and endurance when needed. Wearing Carbonhand can reduce the users need for help, increase independence, and provide security as well as participation in daily life, both at home and at work. Improved hand function offers increased opportunities for physical activity and can provide faster recovery of motor function. In addition, a steady grip reduces the risk of fall injuries.
Carbonhand is the result of Bioservo's extensive research and development, which has been intensified thanks to feedback from users, recommendations from occupational therapists and physiotherapists as well as participation in several EU research projects, including HandinMind and IronHand. With Carbonhand, the user gets an improved experience - comfort is maximized and the glove design is enhanced. Like its predecessor SEM Glove™, Carbonhand can be customized according to the users needs. To make this as simple as possible, Bioservo has launched a new app. The Carbonhand app can be downloaded for both iPhone and Android devices.
"We are very proud of this improved version of our popular glove, a result of our extensive research effort combined with invaluable user feedback. In addition to that, I'm very happy to launch the Carbonhand app, which makes it easy to customize the glove's functions according to the individuals needs" says Bioservo's CEO Erik Landgren.
The name Carbonhand is a tribute to the fundamental element carbon. By choosing this name, Bioservo wants to emphasize how the SEM™ technology easily melts in and strengthens the human body without controlling the user.
Carbonhand is now available to order and the Carbonhand app can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play Store. Carbonhand replaces the former SEM Glove™.
The grip-strengthening and user-friendly Carbonhand is as flexible as a normal glove compensating for impaired handfunction. Carbonhand consists of two parts: a glove available in 6 different sizes for both right and left hand and a lightweight Carbonhand unit. The glove and unit are connected by a cord that can be delivered in different lengths. The Carbonhand device is powered by two rechargeable batteries. Carbonhands total weight is about 700 g.
Carbonhand® is a registered trademark of Bioservo Technologies AB.
