Faserbasierte Biomedizintechnik

Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology (ITM) at Technische Universiät Dresden has extensive experience and expertise in basic- and application-oriented research regarding textile-based biomedical engineering and medical textiles, along with the required equipment. The development projects comprise a wide range of topics. This includes, for example, new biocompatible fibers, 2D and 3D textile structures, the machine design for the manufacturing of medical products, and the development of innovative products for regenerative medicine. Here, the focus is on the development and manufacturing of implants and scaffolds from biocompatible materials, such as:
  • Biodegradable polymer (chitosan, silk, collagen...)
  • Bioactiv ceramics (bioglas, tricalcium phosphate...)
  • Bioinert metals (titan, aluminum oxide, Nitinol...)
The application of self-developed and adapted plant
technologies enables the manufacturing of a wide product
variety:
  • Development/manufacturing of

  • Micro- and nanoscale surface structures
  • Flexible material / structure combinations
  • Drug-delivery-systems
