Absorbable implants are an excellent solution in many medical applications. However, acid release during the degradation and resorption phases can lead to compatibility problems in specific applications. Therefore, we offer polycaprolactone (PCL) based products with excellent biocompatibility and low acid release rates. Our PCL polymer is characterized by an optimum viscosity range, which guarantees excellent processability of the polymer in thermoplastic processes in combination with the highest tenacity of monofilament and multifilament yarns. Using optimized processing parameters, monofilaments with strengths of up to 800 N/mm² are produced, which are ideally suited for the production of resorbable meshes and are also used by our customers in the larger diameter range for the production of molded barbed sutures. From the unstretched PCL monofilaments we produce unique Barbed Sutures with special barbed geometries according to a patented process: The cuts are made fully automatically on the unstretched material and the barbs are erected during the subsequent stretching process. Our patented barbed geometries allow high anchoring forces in the tissue and lead to less irritation. In order to cover the entire degradation spectrum for various applications, we also manufacture Barbed Suture from PGA-CL and PDO as well as monofilament sutures from PDO.
