CPM Therapy

After a surgical intervention on joints, their early, passive and gentle movement is extremely important in order to avoid permanent movement restrictions and stiffening of the joints. By using a CPM motion splint (also called a motorized splint), the joints can be moved evenly, slowly and without stressing the muscles in a gentle and pain-free manner.

The use of a motorized motion splint increases the effectiveness and success of surgery. The device promotes the healing process by improving joint metabolism, supporting blood and lymph circulation, reducing swelling and pain, and preventing joint adhesion and stiffness after surgery. The use of a motion splint immediately after surgery speeds up the post-operative treatment process and helps to become mobile again quickly.

What are CPM motion splints?
CPM motion splints (Continuous Passive Motion) are externally powered motion splints that enable passive joint mobilization, e.g. after surgery. Therapy with a motorized motion splint ensures pain-free and gentle movement of the joints without strain. The use of a motor splint directly after surgery usually shortens the healing process and helps to become mobile again quickly.

The movement parameters (extent, speed, duration of therapy, etc.) are determined by the attending physician or physiotherapist. The motor splint can be used both in the hospital and in the home environment. Treatment must begin immediately after surgery.
